Greeting Newgrounds fans. We are entering a massive year for the Mugen Pico School Fighting Game. For a long time, I’ve told you this is a project that will take a decade to truly finish, and 2027 is when the soundscape finally catches up to the sprites. I has been pushing this project hard for years now, expanding the roster from Pico and Otis all the way to the Goth Punks and our newest guest, Boyfriend. But a true Newgrounds fighting game isn't just about how it looks or plays it’s about how it sounds.

For 2027, we are rolling out the New Original Music Update. Every single character stage you see on the grid is getting a fully customized soundtrack. We are talking a massive expansion: 3 to 5 unique songs per stage, which means over 10 original tracks dedicated to each character's environment!

Take Pico's The Courtyard Recon for example it’s getting gritty, adrenaline-pumping combat tracks. Cassandra’s Extraterrestrial Lockdown will feature heavy, aggressive electronic metal to match her alien transformations. And because Boyfriend has joined the roster trading his arrows for direct combat, his Speaker Stack Showdown stage is going to introduce absolute chaos into high-tempo fighting music!

This project is a long-term labor of love to preserve the raw, classic DNA of Tom Fulp's universe. No soft, romanticized shifts just hardcore, classic Newgrounds fighting action. Stick around, and get ready for 2027. The battle is about to get a whole lot louder!
